The Families First Coronavirus Response Act requires employers to provide emergency sick pay and FMLA leave for qualifying employees.  Employees qualify for this leave if they are ordered to isolate, contract COVID-19, care for a family member with COVID-19, or care for a child who is out of school due to COVID-19.  Administering this leave can be tricky and may not be exactly what you want to become an expert on with your weekday or weekend nights, or those few minutes you grab between meetings.  Candice will administer medical leave for your employee over the course of their time away from work.  This includes:

 

  • Initial meeting with the employee to discuss leave that they qualify for (via phone or Zoom)

  • Sending the employee a Leave of Absence Request Form

  • Following all federal, state and local compliance requirements related to administering the leave

  • Follow up with the employee during their leave to determine how or if they would like to return to work, and what that process will look like

  • Communication with you regarding what steps have been taken
